1. Application and Enrollment in the Wild Balkans Field School (WBFS)
The only way to apply for a WB project is to fill in our on-line application form at http://www.wbfieldschool.com/apply
After submission of your application form you will receive an e-mail confirming receipt from our Admission Officer. We will consider your application and let you know about the decision within 10 days period. If you are admitted to our project sessions, you will receive by e-mail: 1.) the WB admission notification (as an e-mail text) and 2.) the Wild Balkans Attendance Agreement as a PDF file.
You should confirm or cancel your participation by e-mail within the period of 20 days following the date, when the Wild Balkans admission notification was sent.
In case of confirmation, you should:
- Complete the required participant’s data in the Wild Balkans Attendance Agreement!
- Print on paper and sign two copies of the completed document, and then scan it
- Make an advance payment (30% of the admission fee) through a bank transfer or on-line by using your bank card (VISA, MASTERCARD, MAESTRO). This amount is refundable, except an administrative fee of 150 EUR!
- Send a registered letter to the WB postal address, containing the following documents: one of Agreement’s hardcopies filled and signed and a copy of the bank receipt (in case of a bank transfer)! The date on the postal receipt should not exceed the 20 days period following the admission’s date!
- Send by e-mail all scanned copies of: the Attendance Agreement filled and signed by you, the bank receipt and the postal receipt, proving that the hard copies of the documents specified above have been sent to the WB office! The e-mail with the attachments should be sent in the 20 days period following the admission’s date!
2. Payments/ Transfers
They may be made by bank transfer or debit / creditcard via the Wild Balkans on-line POS terminal at: http://www.wbfieldschool.com/support
Bank transfers must be made according to the bank details provided in the WB Attendance Agreement and must cover all bank transfer charges (including intermediary bank charges).
Transfers via TransferWise, Western Union or MoneyGram are possible, but only if discussed with the WBFS Admissions Officer in advance!
3. Refunds and Cancellation Fees
The WBF will be obligated to completely reimburse the amount transferred by the participant in cases where the WBFS project/course is rescheduled or cancelled due to any reason.
All requests by participants for cancellations shall be done in writing. Cancellations received at least sixty (60) days prior to the project/course starting date shall be fully refunded less an administrative fee of € 150 (hundred and fifty EUR). No refunds shall be made for cancellations received fifty nine (59) days or less prior to the project/course beginning.
Frequent absence of the PARTICIPANT from the project/course activities under article. without reasonable explanation; inadequate, bad, offensive or disturbing behaviour to either the WBFS participants, team members, hotel staff or local citizens/communities; neglecting health, safety and working instructions and/or violation of the local laws shall be considered by the FOUNDATION as legitimate reasons to exclude the PARTICIPANT from the project/course without any compensation, refund, remuneration or other considerations
Repatriation is at participant’s own expense.
WBF will not be held liable for loss, damage or injury to persons or property.
The participant will be held liable for injury to persons caused by neglection of health, safety and working instructions provided by the project/course coordinators and the professional team members.
6. Damage to Property
Any participant in WBFS project/course must pay the full cost of:
– any loss and damage caused to the WBFS technical equipment (GPS, laptop, tablet, photo or video camera etc.) and vehicles.
The WBFS participants agree not to publicize any scientific results from the project/course activities. All graphic, textual, photographic and video documents created by WBFS participants/team members during the project/course shall be considered as property of the Wild Balkan Foundation or WBFS partnering organizations. They must be submitted to the project/course coordinator by the end of the project/course. Participants keep the right to use these documents for non-commercial purposes only excluding any kind of publication. If any participant intends to distribute or publish photos/videos related with the project research activity or to use any other part of the project documentation (field journals, photo, audio or video records etc.) s/he has to communicate the issue with the project/course coordinator or director in advance.
The official and only language of teaching in the WBFS is English. All the students should have sufficient level of English in order to participate in a WBFS project/course. There is no entry-test or exam to prove English language skills but participants may be asked to leave the project if they are incapable to understand working instructions, esp. health and safety instructions.
9. Age Requirements
The WBFS participants shall be 18 y/o or older
10. Photography & Filming
The WBFS may take promotional photographs and video footage of participants. If participants do not wish to participate, WBFS will respect their wishes but they have to communicate the issue with the project/course coordinator in advance.
11. Force/ Vis Majeure
WBF will not be responsible for any failure to comply with any of its obligations (and therefore shall not be required to provide any compensation) if the failure is occasioned by any cause beyond WBF’s reasonable control. Nor shall WBF be responsible for any costs incurred by or on behalf of the student as a result of any such cause. Such causes shall include but shall not be limited to war, threat of war, riot, civil strife, industrial dispute, terrorist activity, natural or nuclear disaster, unusually adverse weather conditions and infectious diseases.
12. Health Insurance
Any participant in WBFS project/course is obligated to arrange his/her health insurance in advance either in his/her own country or in the project/course country after arrival. The insurance shall cover the entire period of the project/course.
13. Health & Safety Rules
The WBFS participants are obligated to follow health, safety and working instructions provided by the project/course coordinators and the professional team members. A denial shall be considered by the WBF as a reason to exclude the participant from the project/course without any compensation, refund, remuneration or other considerations.
Any participant in WBFS project/course will be responsible for the authenticity of the personal information specified in all documents, sent from his/her name to the WBF.
Any racial, sexual, gender-based, age-based, etc. harassment is unacceptable at any WBFS project/course and is against the WBF nondiscrimination policies. If enough severe, it may result in expulsion from the project.
Certificate of Attendance
All WBFS participants will receive Certificate of Attendance specifying the project/course’s name, location and duration, all activities, lectures, training and workshops attended by the participant and their duration (in astronomical hours).
Citizens of EU, EEA, USA, Canada, Japan, Republic of Korea, Australia and New Zealand do not need a visa to visit Bulgaria for up to 90 days. Citizens of all other countries may need a visa.The Wild Balkans Foundation can send an official invitation letter that should be used at the relevant embassy to secure a visa to the WBFS project/course.
